Anne-Marie Scherrer, the founder of Go Remote USA, developed a passion for helping underserved individuals from her formative years spent in West Africa. This experience instilled in her a deep commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
Anne-Marie’s non-profit journey began as the Director of Development in a Colorado-based organization supporting teenage girls rescued from sex trafficking. This experience provided valuable insights into the workings of non-profit organizations and the importance of action-oriented initiatives.
In 2021, Anne-Marie realized that she wanted to take everything she had ever learned and create something that would help the most under-served, ignored, and mistrusted individuals in our culture today. After beta testing a simple workforce skills course with a group of adults, it became clear to her that justice-involved people needed much more than job skills. The trauma of being incarcerated alone could derail the most determined person. She saw this segment of our culture as uniquely disadvantaged. With this newfound purpose, Anne-Marie set out to develop comprehensive educational programs tailored to the unique needs of this population.
Over three years, Anne-Marie refined the course content through consultations with justice-involved individuals and collaboration with a professional in the justice system. She listened intently to their stories, challenges, and aspirations, using this invaluable feedback to shape the curriculum and ensure it addressed the specific barriers they faced in their journey towards successful reintegration.
Go Remote USA’s programs now offer a holistic approach to skill development, personal growth, and addressing challenges faced by participants. Recognizing the transformative power of mentorship, Anne-Marie incorporated a unique mentorship program where graduates can become mentors, guiding new participants and potentially finding employment within the organization. This innovative approach not only empowers graduates to give back to their communities but also fosters a sense of belonging and purpose.
Go Remote USA has partnered with organizations in the US and UK, strengthening its reach and impact. These strategic collaborations have enabled the organization to tap into a wealth of expertise, resources, and networks, amplifying its ability to support justice-involved individuals on a larger scale.
The organization has invested in a user-friendly learning management system, ensuring effective and accessible programs. By leveraging technology, Go Remote USA has created a platform that allows participants to engage with the courses at their own pace, from anywhere in the world, breaking down geographical and temporal barriers to education and support.
Go Remote USA’s success is due to its dedicated team, including its webmaster and advisors, and the unwavering support of Anne-Marie’s husband, Paul. This tight-knit group of passionate individuals works tirelessly to ensure that the organization’s mission is carried out with the utmost care, professionalism, and commitment to the well-being of its participants.
Go Remote USA continues to make a significant impact on the lives of justice-involved adults, equipping them with the necessary skills, support, and hope to build brighter futures. As the organization grows, it remains steadfast in its mission to break down barriers, challenge societal stigmas, and provide opportunities for those impacted by the criminal justice system. With Anne-Marie’s visionary leadership and the collective efforts of its team, partners, and supporters, Go Remote USA is poised to create lasting, positive change in the lives of countless individuals and communities.
